Products for humidity. Museum showcases. Art.
Silica Gel, Propadyn Museart, ArtSorb, Prosorb, the most widely used humidity control products in art and conservation
We introduce the most complete range of humidity products for humidity control in art and museums. Humidity absorbers and humidity stabilisers in different formats to place in museum showcases and keep humidity stability.
Propadyn Museart is a highly effective biodegradable and regenerable moisture stabiliser that does not require pre-conditioning. It provides a high absorption capacity of VOC components and acts as a flame retardant. It can be used in all conditions as it does not release liquid or dust. It allows great energy savings in combination with air conditioners.
ArtSorb is particularly recommended when transporting works of art, documentary collections and cultural heritage to preserve highly sensitive cultural goods in picture frames or in boxes and packaging. It maintains the RH at predetermined values between 65 and 75% (or at 50% with stabiliser sheets). In addition, ArtSorb is infinitely durable, the product only needs to be dried if it becomes saturated.
The various ProSorb products allow humidity regulation between ranges from 30 to 60& RH. They are ideal humidity stabilisers for museum collection maintenance as the relative humidities for conservation are usually within this range. They can be reconditioned for re-use by simply adding or removing excess or missing water and have a life of between 10 and 20 years, depending on the material in which they are stored.
Desiccants such as silica gel can be used to absorb excessive humidity in museum halls and spaces where works of art and collection objects are placed, both in display cases and during transport. There are different types of moisture absorbers such as desiccant clay, eco-sustainable desiccants or molecular sieve, but the most widely used is silica gel because of its high performance. You can use silica gel to:
- Protect documents, paper and photographs from degradation due to the presence of moisture. Keeps photographic, historical and documentary material, antiques and other collection objects in perfect condition in their storage place,
- Keeps cupboards, drawers and archives dry and free of moisture and odour.
- Prevents rust in confined areas with metallic elements.
